Nothing mars a long-haul journey more than having to get up in the middle of the night to catch an early flight. If you are flying from Terminal 4 at Heathrow, then the Hilton could be your answer. Practically next to the terminal, it’s an easy two-minute walk under cover to the check-in desks.
With sound proofing and black out curtains, if you retire early you are unlikely to be disturbed. If you really want to chill out, there’s a swimming pool, sauna and steam room, open until late. Gym bunnies will be happy too, with 24 hour availability.
Breakfast, if chosen, is comprehensive and includes cooked vegetarian options, such as sausage as well as the regular Full English. This is available from 6am.
Upgrading to an executive room will get you use of the lounge on the first floor, where you can help yourself to drinks and snacks until 10pm, read the papers and use the internet. A continental breakfast is also served in the lounge from 6.30am.
The restaurants at the hotel are expensive; you might be better wandering over to Terminal 4 and taking your pick from the more basic options there, including Wetherspoons and Café Rouge.
